The Many Housing Styles of Lansdale
Once upon a time, Lansdale was a forest. It wasn’t until the North Pennsylvania Railroad was built in the 1850s that Lansdale started rapidly developing. In fact, it was named after railroad engineer Philip Lansdale Fox in the 19th century. The area went through another phase of rapid growth after World War II, when a housing boom impacted suburbs across the country.
For these reasons, Lansdale has a wide variety of housing styles. Many houses were built quickly with cookie-cutter designs to meet the high demand for suburban housing. You’ll find plenty of architectural styles common throughout the Philly suburbs, like split-level homes, Cape Cods and ranches.
If you’re no longer in love with your 1980s split-level or quaint-but-small Cape Cod, have no fear. Remodeling can turn your caterpillar of a home into a beautiful butterfly. That’s what COCOON is all about!
