The HR Generalist at COCOON plays a pivotal role in managing COCOON’s human resources in the Finance/HR Department. The responsibilities span a wide range of tasks, ensuring the smooth functioning of HR and contributing to the overall positive culture at COCOON as we seek to serve and delight our customers.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment/employment, onboarding, policy implementation, administering compensation and benefit plans, employee support, performance management and maintaining accurate records.  This position reports directly to the Controller.

At COCOON we are all about positive transformation and have engineered a simple step-by-step approach for our customers to achieve their dreams of home renovations. Stage #1 is Architecture. Stage #2 is Interior Design where our team of designers help customers select the specific hard finishes for their renovations. These often include Cabinetry, Countertops, Tile, Flooring, Hardware, Plumbing and Lighting Fixtures, Paint Colors, etc.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Administering Compensation and Benefit Plans:
    • Ensure that employees receive competitive compensation packages and understand their benefits
    • Monitor and prepare bi-weekly payroll distribution ensuring accuracy and timeliness
    • Assist with maintaining Workers Comp and General Liability insurance policies including annual review and audit
  • Assisting in Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Processes:
    • Participate in recruitment efforts, from posting job openings to conducting interviews
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify suitable candidates
  • Conducting Employee Onboarding and Organizing Training & Development Initiatives:
    • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into COCOON
    • Coordinate orientation and training sessions for new employees
    • Generate official internal documents such as offer letters
    • Plan and organize training programs to enhance employees’ skills and knowledge
    • Assist with employee onboarding procedures
    • Continuous improvement with onboarding and offboarding process
  • Provide Support to Employees:
    • Ensure smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to various HR-related queries from employees.  This includes topics such as leaves, compensation, and workplace policies
    • Resolve any issues that may arise and promote a heathy vibrant work environment
    • Listen to employees and seek solutions
  • Assisting in the Development and Implementation of HR Policies:
    • Creating and updating human resource policies that align with company values, legal requirements, and organizational goals.
    • Research new HR trends
    • Help create organization guidelines
    • Drafting templates for HR documents
  • Performance Management:
    • Lead the performance management process, including performance evaluations and feedback.
    • Provide support and training for managers with conducting employee evaluations including annual reviews
  • Gather and Analyzing HR Metrics:
    • Collect and analyze data related to HR operations, such as time-to-hire and employee turnover rates
    • Audit and approve monthly medical bills
    • Prepare ad hoc reports as needed
    • Coordinate with other HR professionals
    • Write reports on HR department activities
  • Maintaining Employee Records:
    • Ensure that employee files and records are accurate, up-to-date, and confidential
    • Maintain proper records of employee attendance and leaves
    • Update records to accommodate new hires

Required Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 3-7 years of HR experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication follow-up, problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, team player with excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrate compassion, ability to build happiness and motivate positive change
  • Experience with working on multiple projects at any given time
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • High level of discretion with confidential material
  • Ability to work effectively with different departments
